About the Author
Marisa Ames, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (cardiology), and associate professor at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, is a 2007 graduate of the Ohio State University. She completed her cardiology residency and the Jane Lewis-Seaks postdoctoral fellowship at North Carolina State University. Her research interests include neurohormonal activation in cardiovascular and kidney disease (specifically the pharmacologic modulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system) and heartworm disease. She serves on the executive board of the American Heartworm Society.
