It is every veterinary professional’s goal to better the lives of animals in their care. However, one often-overlooked part of healing animals is making sure they—and their owners—feel safe and secure within the clinic. Recently, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) partnered with the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) to create the Human-Animal Bond (HAB) Certification, which prepares veterinary care staff to meet the bonding needs of both pets and their owners. This program delivers a thorough evaluation of the science, communication, community engagement, animal welfare and wellness, and medical care needed to create and maintain a positive human-animal bond.
And now, you can take your entire practice to the next level, too. In addition to a select few staff members being certified, you can now obtain the title of HAB-Certified Practice. This certification lets your clients know that your entire practice has their pets’ best interest in mind, whether it be the medical care they receive or the cuddles and purrs to say hello and goodbye. To qualify for practice certification, at least 50% of full-time staff must be certified, which includes completion of the full course (22 CE hours). Once your practice is certified, you will receive access to a complimentary toolkit of marketing materials that will help you promote your new certification, plus you’ll be included in the HAB-Certified Practice Map on the NAVC website so future clients can find you.
This certification will enhance your relationship with not only your patients and clients but also your team, and it’ll help you foster more meaningful connections. For more information, visit navc.com/certifications/human-animal-bond-certification.
